The Good News
BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING
Philippians 4:6 and 7. "Be careful for nothing (or don't worry about anything); but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus".

Apostle Paul is saying that when we begin to worry, we are to pray instead. Those things that are bothering us we are to bring to Him. Another scripture tells us to "cast our care upon Him". We are told that "by prayer and supplication" we are to let our "REQUESTS" be made known unto God. I remember asking a man for help one time. He told me that unless he knows where the needs are, he could not help. The same is true with God. Now God knows our needs and those things that make us worry. But God "Wants us to Ask Him" for help. The bible says in James that "we have not, because we ask not".

Maybe a family member is having problems. Maybe we are in financial difficulties. Maybe we have an illness. We should just let God know what our requests are for this situation, and leave it with Him. If there is something we can do to help, do that, but then the rest must be left to God. And after we have done all we can we must just let it rest.

Note: We should **NEVER** worry about anything that we have control over. For instance, some people worry whether it is going to rain or not. Well, God controls the weather, and to worry about the weather is a fruitless effort and a waste of energy that could be put to something productive.

I think that it is interesting that we are also told that our prayer and supplication is to be "With Thanksgiving". So often we only look at our needs and problems. And we fail to consider all that God has done for us in the past.

If we begin our prayer with a prayer of Thanks, probably some of the problems that we were going to worry about won't look and seem nearly as big or bad, because we will find that in giving thanks we will think of how God helped us in the past in some of the same situations.

Now it is not wrong to have some concerns. A proper concern is what will cause us to do what we can for or about the situation. But to worry is something different. Constant worry will take it's toll on our physical body as well as our mind. It can cause us to become depressed. And the more we worry, the worse our problems look. What started out as something little, after a time of "worrying about it" can look many times larger.

Remember the command is "to be careful for *Nothing*". Or don't worry about *anything*.

I have seen problems coming towards me at times, but the interesting thing is that they often run into the ditch before they get to me. :-)

Another thing to remember, if we look at our problems in light of our own abilities and strength, they will look a lot bigger than if we look at them in light of God's abilities and strength. :-))

Verse 7 says this "And the peace of God, which passeth understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus". As we do what we can and then leave all the rest with God, the peace "that comes from God" and "which passeth understanding" shall keep our "hearts" and our "Minds", through Christ Jesus. What a blessed promise this is. One aspect of peace that Passeth Understanding, is that the person who does not know Christ, **cannot** "understand" how we can be at rest when we are facing problems.

Brother to Brother
Homeland Security and the transformation of America

The President has proposed the most significant transformation of the U.S. government in over a half-century by consolidating the current confusing patchwork of government activities into a single entity--the Department of Homeland Security...." FEMA Region VI

"The President calls on each governor to establish a single Homeland Security Task Force for the state, to serve as his or her primary coordinating body with the federal government." Organizing for a Secure Homeland, White House[1]

"Every few hundred years in Western history there occurs a sharp transformation. . . . We are currently living through just such a transformation. It is creating the post-capitalist society." Peter F. Drucker, Post-Capitalist Society.[2]

Few would deny that America faces a major crisis. But the greatest threat to freedom may be a veiled government "solution" rather than the obvious threat of terror. Yes, international terrorism and weapons of mass destruction call for a wise and strong response, but our new Department of Homeland Security brings radical changes that threaten the very foundations of our nation.

Some of the changes are structural; they deal with the transformation of the republic itself. Others are designed to draw all Americans -- young and old from coast to coast -- into community consensus groups that would manipulate minds, change values, build a collective world view, and promote a form of solidarity that clashes with all the wise warnings of our founding fathers.

Looming over those revolutionary changes stands an inter-governmental surveillance network symbolized by the all-seeing eye in the pyramid. This Masonic symbol, whose roving eye covers the planet with its probing and penetrating rays, first appeared on a defense department website featuring TIA (Total Information Awareness). It must have raised some concern, since the image disappeared a few months later. See Surveillance

Some of these changes were planned decades long ago. [See Chronology of the NEA] More recently, former president Clinton tried to persuade Congress to pass similar anti-terrorism measures after the bombing of the Oklahoma federal building. But he failed. Americans were not yet ready to relinquish their rights to freedom and privacy. Now, thanks to a greater crisis, the planned laws, intrusive policies, high tech surveillance and vast networks have been put in place. What does it all mean to ordinary citizens like you and me?
